Originally it was suggested that I 'bet my whole pay package on red' for this challenge (thanks Ramondo!!) but hmmmmm, not enough guts for that one! I did however decide on an amount that would get the butterflies flying around the belly and get my palms a bit sweaty! It had to be an amount I was nervous enough about losing, in order to have the full effect - and for me right now in crazy savings mode, $50 was it!!
To make things even better, my fabulous uncle (thanks Uncle Neil!!) was all over 'the list' and gave me $50 for Christmas to use in this challenge - amazing idea!! Even more amazing is that I managed to not spend it for 3 months and had it all ready to go.
I was conveniently staying at Jupiter's Casino on the Gold Coast this past week for a work conference, and found myself with a spare 15mins on Sunday morning at 9am - clearly the obvious time for one to hit the tables!!
As you can imagine, we met a bunch of colourful characters at this time, who may or may not have been there all night! After awkwardly squeezing my way in and placing my $50 note on the table I was asked whether I wanted my chips in $2's or $5's - I went with $5's which was responded to with cheers and 'Hey Big Spender' calls from around the table - just imagine the comments when those bad boys went ALL on red!!
The time it took for that little ball to spin around the ball track and find its way to a home (hopefully a 'red' home) seemed like forever! But eventually it slowed right down and................................
WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER!
WOW! The emotion of it all - there were high fives, hugs, and screams of 'Were in the Money', including calls of 'Keep Going'!! But nope, I was out - the doubling of my money was far more exciting than the risk of losing it all.
